Howgill Fells, a panorama

Our June weekend walk was to the Howgills.  Whilst we enjoyed and managed 3 walks on the 3 days as usual, there was not the majesty of the Lakes fells.  we may have been hampered by a lack of local knowledge also.

On Saturday we walked The Calf, immediately above and behind Sedbergh, our base for the weekend.  Wainwright promised us spectacular views, however on our arrival, we had anything but and a cold wind precluded waiting to see if the cloud lifted.

Thus we had a walk which started with the application of sun cream and ended with us wearing gloves….

  1. I have decided that you most have the most enjoyable life of travel of anyone I know. I love traveling and would love England with all its rich history and Royal tradition but the opportunity to make the trip never happened. I am an outdoors type of person and, based on your pictures, the rolling hills of Howgill Fells seems an ideal walking excursions.
    Nice pictures.

    • Ha ha not sure about that, but you have to make the most of things, I guess. A shame you have not been to England; perhaps there’s still time?
However, the US has a rich diversity of landscape that is the envy of many photographers and travellers alike.
Thanks for stopping by (as ever).
